Nov. 29th, 2006 04:59 pmIt's really annoying when people won't admit they don't know what they're doing. In theatre IB, Johanna, Jessa and I went down to the auditorium to help Spanish immersion theatre set up. When trying to get the light board and sound board working, we (Amanda, Johanna, Jessa, Anna, Cece and I) were invaded by freshmen who claimed to know what they were doing when we didn't even know what we were doing. Light and sound boards are more complicated than a lightswitch or a boombox and the freshmen wouldn't admit they didn't know what they were doing. They kept pointing to things and saying "I know how to work that and that so I get it." when really they didn't know how to work even those parts. They'd keep flipping random switches, not listening to me as I told them that they didn't know what they were doing, that I didn't know what I was doing, that the only part of the board I could work was the microphones and that I had 3 years of experience in theatre and they had none. I admitted that I did not know what I was doing, that I only knew how to turn on the microphones and tried to tell them that they couldn't just try random switches and play with random things. They also kept trying to get up on the catwalk. Arggh.
