So. I have this mad idea of "Hey, maybe I can go to Readercon!"

On the other hand trains, as it turns out, are actually rather expensive. The cheapest flight was much cheaper than the train. Carpooling (or I guess driving but carpooling would make the gas costs less) would likely be even cheaper.

How should I get there if I were to hypothetically decide to try to make it to Readercon? For that matter, where would I stay?

I am a poor college student but I'm willing to spend a bit of money to get there. I want to see how much it might come to before I decide but I'd need to make reservations soon.

H'mm.

In an unrelated note, Bordertown comes out tomorrow! (Well technically today) Hooray!

Also, also my brother is home from college and came bearing a TARDIS mug for me!

It sounds like public transport from Cambridge to Burlington is a little iffy, so I was contemplating hotel room for the weekend. You could share with me! And [livejournal.com profile] vcmw said she might come down for it... dunno if I'll be able to drag Kate out to the con, but maybe. There might also be other people wanting beds for the con. Anyway, if we split a room four ways it wouldn't be quite so expensive.

If you can find three other people to split the hotel room (as I have done), the cost is MUCH more navigable! Hope to see you there!

A group of us are carpooling/driving from Chicago! Of all the expenses, that costs the least money but the most... energy!

How about you write an LJ post, and I'll signal boost it on my LJ and Facebook, and ask others to do the same, and perhaps someone will know someone who knows someone! There are a LOT of writers in the Twin Cities!

As for me, I just know a lot of writers in Chicago. The three of us went last year.

If none of that works, and you could get to CHICAGO by, say, Wednesday, you might drive with US! It'd be a crowded car, but we'd live. And we're always into SPLITTING GAS MONEY MORE WAYS!

It'll be about 18 hours of driving, though, on top of your train/bus to Chicago. But let us know. We'll try the other first!

You could also crosspost to the Readercon LJ community, maybe? I think it's just "Readercon".

Last year we left Wednesday night and drove through the night. Why don't you message me your email and I will introduce you to the others. I haven't actually ASKED them yet, although we were trying to find a fourth earlier so it should be okay.

We'll start driving back Sunday. Last year we got into the city Monday morning around 2:30 or 3.
