If I think too hard about what has been going on, I get either overly angry or overly sad and neither is particularly productive. And if I get overly sad, I get angry at Scott Walker for affecting my mood so much. But it frustrates me that he can see the thousands of people protesting for days and just wave them off and keep lying and saying it is about the budget when now he used that loophole to pass all the non-budget parts. I wish he were actually doing the right thing. I wish he just seemed misguided and not malicious.
And I keep thinking of Gandalf's quote if I get too upset.
'I wish it need not have happened in my time,' said Frodo.
'So do I,' said Gandalf, 'and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.'
On the other hand, Frodo's need phrasing doesn't apply to this situation. Scott Walker didn't need to do what he did.
