1) I think I would like to study abroad. I want to go to the United Kingdom and Ireland at some point in my life. I would like to see Scotland, Wales, England, Ireland. I also would like to go to a Spanish speaking country. I would also like to go somewhere where there would be things related to archaeology. I would also like to go to more places in Latin America, particularly Chile and Argentina. Any suggestions on paths to take for study abroad?

2) I would like recommendations for books on the East India Company and relations between England and India.

England, Ireland, and Scotland have some amazing archeological areas that I find fascinating.

NIU Galway has a fantastic archaeology program. I didn't go there for that myself, but others I know have done so and loved it.

I took a couple of archaeology classes at NUIG and loved them; I didn't get a chance to do any fieldwork in my study abroad there, though I might have if I'd pushed harder.

Study abroad. Do it. Do it do it do it! It is so great! I don't know what to tell you regarding which country, but I can recommend if you can find one doing more of a program type thing and not direct enrollment. I don't know about you, but I think if I had direct-enrolled in a foreign university I would have sat in my room for four months and not gone out and met people and seen things. But maybe you would, I don't know, something to think about. But yes. Study abroad. It is a fantastic opportunity you won't get again. Do it!

P.S.My program was SIT. I don't know anything about any of their other country programs but the one I went on was FANTASTIC. You should look at their website! Maybe they have archaeology-based programs. http://sit.edu/

So would this happen during your senior year then? Ask your advisor for your major, since you're an Anthro major, right? Then go to the sessions at the OIE if you haven't been yet. I'll be applying to study abroad during this school year too!

You'll figure it out. You have until November (or even later if you decide to study abroad Spring Semester of your senior year) to decide.

Well, you're better off than those sophomores who don't declare their major until the end of Spring Semester, and are not really sure that they want to major in their subject!

If you want a really different experience go to Latin America, Chile or Peru would have archaeology sites you could study. As a subject of study in itself it wasn't very popular in Ecuador... not sure about other Latin American countries. OIE is your best bet for getting started though and do it soon so you can plan out classes to take before then so you can graduate.

But definitely GO ABROAD! It is the single best experience I have had through Beloit.

I dunno about programs, but I've been reading up on all these amazing dinosaur fossils they've been digging up in South America, so that's where I'm casting my vote. I don't know if that's the kind of archaeology you mean. I feel like the UK and Ireland would be much easier to get to without the aid of a study program.

Oh god...my mom was reading a book. It was called "East of the Sun", I think. and was about British women who went to Shanghai to get husbands. Okay, so not really India, but it's....similar? Maybe it's not. Either way, it looked interesting, so you might consider checking it out.

Also, did you know Will Shetterly proof-read American Gods (Gaiman)? Also Susanna Clarke, and Diana Whynne Jones. I hear it pays to read the acknowledgements section!
