Because of all of campus catching the flu, H1N1, or some such illness, there is no longer a masquerade ball this weekend. I am not entirely certain what to do this weekend. Any suggestions? I will definitely be reading The Dispossessed. I will probably be writing.

ETA: Masquerade is canceled because many people are not up to running it/attending. It is not canceled for fear of the spread of H1N1 or whatever other variety of flu is also spreading around campus. I'm mostly annoyed because I was looking forward to Masquerade and no one is sure if it will still happen much less when.

Wait. Let me see if I have this right. There is a justifiable reason why a good number of people on campus should be wearing masks, and they're cancelling masquerade?! That seems... backwards.

Also, it means my awesome plan got less awesome. Although it was too late anyway, if the dance was supposed to be this weekend. Maybe it will just get postponed...

If it weren't for the fact that the Beloit administrators probably want everyone to stay in semi-isolation, I'd suggest you throw an impromptu 'plague party', with Halloween skulls and documentaries about the black plague.

Other, less social things to do would be to watch movies and tv shows linked to surfthechannel.net, and to make crafty things. Threadbanger.com has a tutorial on how to make a princess tiara out of wire and beads.
