Last night I was feeling melancholy and upset. Then I wrote about robots and felt much better. I'm not sure what this says about me.

Sometimes I get bored and decide to add various ingredients to melted chocolate. Because of the brownie recipe in the comments of [livejournal.com profile] tithenai's post I added pinches of cinnamon and chipotle powder. (It is too hot out to make actual brownies.) The result was quite delicious. I like my chocolate better when it has spice added to it. What is your favorite way to eat chocolate?

The way I eat it most often is in dark chocolate chips on ice cream.

But I like it with spices, or hot with milk, or with caramel, or with nuts, or with dried fruit, or in brownies, or in cake, or....

I may not be completely useless to you in this matter.

I like to eat chocolate with still more chocolate... :D I really, really love mint and caramel, though -- our local candy shop makes these amazing peppermint truffles, which are not only huge, but also heavenly and perfect. And their caramels are just exactly chewy enough. Alas, in the summertime they don't make either of those very often, as they are somewhat difficult to make successfully in summer weather. Yet another reason to look forward to autumn...

I have never tried spices in my chocolate! That is a very fascinating idea.

This makes perfect sense to me!

There was once an diamond ad in which a boy wanted to get his mother a giant robot for her birthday, and dad was patiently explaining why mom wasn't the giant robot type and diamonds would be better.

To which I found myself ranting that if anyone ever passed up a chance to get me a giant robot in favor of diamonds, our relationship would be so over.

See, this is the way I feel about ponies. Every time someone says (jokingly) they want a pony, or offers me a pony, I go all, "ARGH! No! They are smelly and expensive and need lots of space!"

(And then I ran into this horse and, uh, changed my mind.)

Too cute!

My feeling about horses is, I want to be a horse aunt. I wrote some horse books a while back, and the research confirmed for me that I wasn't drawn to horses enough to be up for all the work and money they require--but that I did like hanging around other people's horses, giving them treats, grooming them and getting the rocks out of their hooves, going on the occasional ride--and then happily returning them to their parents. :-)

To answer your more specific question, my favorite chocolate is chili-chocolate, which is spicy. It is best served slightly melted over someone (or over chocolate lava cake, too, I guess).

That being said, I am a fond believer in the idea that multiple flavors should be mixed together: crackly chocolate glaze over creamy chocolate cheesecake with a flaky chocolate shell. Hot chocolate fudge dripping thick over warm brownies and chocolate cake, with white chocolate drizzled over it. One chocolate, by itself, seems too...lonely.

I like my chocolate any way I can get it. Except very bitter.

You can give me the very bitter kind. I won't mind. And I'll give you my not-so-bitter kind, because: meh, not-bitter chocolate? Not so Mrissish, it turns out.
