I have posted this on [livejournal.com profile] elisem's haiku gathering post but I wanted to post it on my journal as well. The title is a link to a picture of the earrings. For those who do not know, [livejournal.com profile] elisem hosts a party at WisCon where a table is laid out with earrings. You walk along and look at all of them until you pick out a pair that you would like to take home with you. You bring this pair to [livejournal.com profile] elisem and she gives a title for the earrings and for your haiku. You then write the haiku and show it to [livejournal.com profile] elisem and if she wishes (which she usually does) you keep the earrings and put the haiku on the table in their place. It is lovely for there are many pretty pairs of earrings and excellent haikus and this year there was tea. Mmm.

Her Slow Majesty

they may call her slow
but she leaves a trail built of
sunlit steps. she shines.

Oh good, oh good, that is an actual haiku and not merely something that counts the right syllables. Well done.

That is such an exquisite idea! I love your poem, especially the hushing s- sh- alliteration throughout; it gives it a very lazy, sunlit essence.
