I just bought a book out of which I'll make a project that I've had in mind for a while as well as an old dictionary. The old dictionary is really shiny because it has all sorts of awesome little diagrams and it has dictionary style words and I'm planning on cutting it apart and decoupage-ing bits of it onto flat things with holes in them and making jewelry. It shall be sweet. Um. People who know stuff about this sort of thing - I should use modge podge, right?

I am quite excited to start making things. I think I'll practice with the jewelry idea on some part of the dictionary I care less about first then use something I like. This is fun.

I don't know who you are, but the celestial dandelion in your icon is oddly compelling.

I think "exploding dandelion" will have to be my anima banner the next time I play Exalted.

Oh thank you! I'm Tanya, one of the freshman that practically lives at BSFFA. We met briefly at your birthday party in first floor lounge.

Ah yes, I remember you. I asked what you were playing in LARP and you said your character was a werewolf. Then I decided I approved of you because werewolves > not-werewolves. Hi!

...at least I think that was you. I'm going to feel pretty silly if I'm remembering a different freshman and you're playing a vampire or something. Oh well. Werewolves are still bettter!

Nifty.

"I think I'll practice with the jewelry idea on some part of the dictionary I care less about first then use something I like." Or you could take photocopies and use those if all you need is the shapes and images. If you need the actual texture of the paper, then that doesn't work so well though. Another nice thing about reproductions, depending on how you do them, is that you can fiddle with the sizing, the colours of both the print and the negative space, and if you're working with a camera, the perspective. Also, you can try a few different things with the same image.

You're welcome! Also, yeah HINT as above re: photos.

Even if you haven't got something on hand you can digitize an image with, you experiment with the colour stuff with pens/markers/highlighters etc... or layering coloured paper/tissue. Granted at the size I'd guess you're working with, it'll probably be finicky, but then it is jewelery.
