I wrote a poem a couple nights ago but aside from that my writing seems to be all thick and stopped up. It hasn't been flowing really and I've no idea how to revise stories or how to finish them.

I've finally settled upon The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell as the book to read for FYI. I was thinking of reading it in the first place but then I kept deliberating and switching books. I wrote down the Eleanor Arnason (how do you spell that?) ones and then borrowed Orphan's Tales and then bought the Suzy McKee Charnas ones (well, the first two) but I'd checked out The Sparrow from the library and I started it today and it /clicked/. I'm really enjoying it. Brianna, are you the only other one reading it? If it is inconvenient I can do my presentation on the Logic books but otherwise should we present together?

And tomorrow is my last full day of break which is too soon in some ways though I'll be glad to see people. I'll always be saying goodbye now, won't I? People will never been in all the same place which may be a good thing because then I'd have places to visit but unless there is some sort of gathering I won't see everyone at once.

This may sound like a non sequitur, but this is why I get so frustrated when college programs for the middle-aged are referred to as "adult education" instead of "continuing education": college students are adults. One of the hallmarks of adulthood in our society, in my opinion, is that you almost never get all the people you love in one place, and when you do it's something extremely outstanding to cherish, rather than something routine -- and getting them together like that is mostly up to you, it's not something your parents will be able to arrange, for the most part.

Minneapolis is the place we have to say the fewest goodbyes, but our lives are still so full of them. Because our lives are so full, I guess.

Oh, excellent! Another Sparrow person! I am indeed the only one doing it, and it would be great to do it with someone. I'm about two thirds of the way through. It's pretty great so far.
